SYSTEM ARCHITECTURE & CAPABILITIES

Moving beyond basic telematics to advanced machine intelligence.

While basic telematics tells you where your machine is, TCU Hermod tells you what it's doing, how it's performing, and what will happen next. It acts as a powerful central nervous system, ensuring secure, reliable, bi-directional Device-to-Everything (D2X) communication that seamlessly links your equipment to remote operational hubs of any type. TCU Hermod provides a powerful embedded engine for Predictive Information Discovery to catch failures before they happen, optimize complex assembly lines, and keep processes running smoothly without unexpected shutdowns.

The TCU Hermod Edge Architecture

Unlike legacy telematics dongles that act as passive conduits streaming uncurated CAN bus noise to distant data centers, TCU Hermod inverts the compute paradigm. High-frequency sensor streams are evaluated directly inside a deterministic C++17 edge engine within single-digit microsecond windows.

  • Deterministic Rule Execution: 0% floating-point overhead, zero heap allocation jitter.
  • Continuous Hardware Isolation: Micro-segmented CAN transceivers prevent remote takeover vectors.
  • Zero Airtime Waste: Only curated anomalies, health ratings, and priority alerts are synced.

ABOUT NORN DYNAMICS

Inverting the Computational Model at the Edge

Treating telematics hardware as an autonomous intelligence node rather than an expensive, dumb data pipe.

Abdel Díaz - Founder & Chief Systems Architect

Abdel Díaz

Founder & Chief Systems Architect

Abdel Díaz founded Norn Dynamics to bridge the divide between safety-critical embedded engineering and real-time failure prediction. Drawing on extensive expertise in deterministic systems, low-level C++ systems compilation, and open-source contributions to Eclipse telematics runtimes, he architected the Norn deterministic edge platform to solve the high costs and vulnerabilities of cloud-dependent telematics.

His philosophy of "structural determinism over probabilistic opacity" drives Norn's commitment to silicon-rooted Zero Trust security and zero-data-loss autonomy for industrial operations worldwide.

Our Mission

To eliminate catastrophic industrial downtime by delivering microsecond, explainable failure intelligence running directly on physical equipment without cloud reliance.

Our Vision

A global industrial ecosystem where every machine operates as an autonomous, self-diagnosing, and impenetrable node in a zero-trust network.

Core Values

Uncompromising Determinism: We replace probabilistic guessing with mathematical truth.
Silicon-Rooted Security: Privacy and integrity are hardware-guaranteed.
Zero-Waste Efficiency: Slashing unneeded bandwidth and power consumption at every byte.

Citizenship & Stewardship TI-Aligned Framework

Environmental Sustainability: Decarbonizing at the Edge

Frequently Answered Technical & Operational Inquiries

Direct answers to the top engineering, security, and financial questions from OEMs and fleet leaders.

Rather than relying on resource-intensive neural networks that require continuous cloud round-trips and gigabytes of RAM, the Norn engine utilizes compile-time deterministic pattern evaluation. It correlates multivariate CAN bus sensor relationships directly in silicon, detecting mechanical drift signatures in microseconds using under 184 KB of Flash memory.
TCU Hermod operates with complete offline autonomy. All diagnostic models, drift detectors, and safety thresholds execute locally. High-capacity non-volatile ring buffers preserve all telemetry events across blackouts, and our Zero-Data-Loss Store & Forward protocol executes prioritized, tamper-evident burst transmission as soon as an uplink is re-established.
In compliance with NIST SP 800-207 Zero Trust Architecture and ISO 21434, the TCU enforces hardware-level micro-segmentation. Transceivers isolate internal safety-critical powertrain buses from external telemetry interfaces, and an EAL6+ Common Criteria Secure Element cryptographically authenticates every outbound frame, preventing lateral injection attacks.
The hardware utilizes dual-bank QSPI flash memory partitions (Bank A and Bank B). New cryptographically signed firmware is flashed to the inactive bank while the machine operates normally. Once verified with cryptographic hashes and watchdog tests, an atomic bootloader pointer switch occurs. If verification fails, the hardware rolls back instantly to the last known good image.
Yes. TCU Hermod's D2X protocol formats curated health outputs, alerts, and operational metrics into standardized JSON or Protobuf payloads that can be ingested by AWS IoT Core, Azure IoT Hub, Snowflake, or custom on-premise SCADA servers via mTLS and REST/MQTT.
Every TCU Hermod deployment is accompanied by an audit-ready compliance package covering UNECE R155 (Cybersecurity Management Systems), UNECE R156 (Software Update Management Systems), ISO 21434 TARA workbooks, ISO 26262 ASIL functional safety artifacts, and IEC 62443-4-2 industrial security checklists.
