Conserving Natural Resources.
Reducing Consumption. Mitigating Impact.
Our programs, operational milestones, and engineering standards are designed to minimize environmental footprints across the hardware lifecycle—from silicon fabrication to zero-cloud edge deployments.
Creating a Sustainable Future
At Norn Dynamics, environmental sustainability is an architectural imperative rather than a retrospective audit. We have established rigorous commitments to sustainable hardware development, non-hazardous material selection, and energy-conscious systems design.
Our mission to replace cloud-dependent predictive algorithms with autonomous on-chip deterministic processing slashes continuous cellular data transmission and avoids massive cloud computing energy overhead. We evaluate every component, substrate, and packaging assembly against lifecycle environmental impacts to guarantee maximum circularity.
Six Core Environmental Pillars
Focused operational programs delivering measurable reductions in carbon, water, and material consumption.
Greenhouse Gas Emissions
We set aggressive greenhouse gas (GHG) reduction targets to minimize operational impacts. Aligned with science-based target frameworks, we target a 42% reduction in absolute Scope 1 & 2 emissions by year-end 2030 relative to our 2023 baseline.
Renewable Electricity
We are transitioning engineering laboratories and partner assembly facilities to 100% renewable electricity. Our primary hardware-in-the-loop (HIL) testing rigs and firmware verification test benches operate on certified green tariffs.
Water Stewardship
We prioritize water conservation across hardware environmental testing. Climatic stress chambers and liquid cooling validation loops utilize 100% recirculated, closed-loop fluid systems with zero industrial wastewater discharge.
Waste & Circularity
We responsibly divert manufacturing and packaging waste from municipal landfills. All TCU Hermod enclosures feature die-cast aluminum alloys engineered for 100% recyclability, meeting EU WEEE requirements with >90% total landfill diversion.
Responsible Materials
Strict compliance with EU RoHS (Directive 2011/65/EU and amendment 2015/863) and REACH (EC 1907/2006). All printed circuit assemblies use lead-free SAC305 alloys, halogen-free laminates, and certified conflict-free 3TG tantalum, tin, tungsten, and gold.
Silicon-Rooted Eco-Design
By running autonomous pattern detection directly on bare silicon, TCU Hermod operates at less than 2.5 Watts. This eliminates the massive multi-kilowatt server farm energy consumption typically required to ingest raw fleet sensor streams.
Science-Based Targets & Milestones
Auditable performance indicators tracking our progress toward our 2030 decarbonization goals.
Commitment to Science-Based Validation
Our emission reduction trajectories are modeled to align with limiting global warming to 1.5°C above pre-industrial levels. We conduct annual greenhouse gas inventories following the GHG Protocol Corporate Accounting and Reporting Standard.
Enabling Industrial Decarbonization
How our deterministic edge platform directly reduces operational emissions for OEM and fleet operators.
Undetected hydraulic cavitation, fuel injector imbalance, and transmission slip degrade heavy equipment thermal efficiency by up to 14%, burning hundreds of excess liters of diesel per vehicle every month.
Norn's Impact: Microsecond mechanical anomaly detection catches thermal and mechanical degradation weeks before catastrophic failure, preserving optimal operating efficiency and preventing hundreds of metric tons of avoidable CO2 emissions across fleets.
Streaming continuous raw CAN-bus telematics over 4G/5G base stations consumes continuous high-draw cellular RF amplifier power and generates gigabytes of cloud ingress traffic that must be processed in energy-intensive data centers.
Norn's Impact: TCU Hermod computes patterns on-chip and only transmits cryptographically signed event dossiers. This reduces cellular modem active transmission duty cycles by 98.4%, extending vehicle battery life and eliminating cloud compute footprints.
Environmental Management Standards
Our governance structures adhere to international environmental and supply chain verification standards.
ISO 14001:2015
Environmental Management System (EMS) framework guiding our operational procedures, emergency preparedness, continuous environmental audits, and waste minimization initiatives.
ISO 50001:2018
Energy Management System framework ensuring systematic monitoring of power consumption across hardware test benches, thermal stress rigs, and computation clusters.
EU WEEE Directive
Directive 2012/19/EU compliance guaranteeing end-of-life device recovery, certified e-waste dismantling, and precious metal reclamation through verified recycling partners.
